PREMA Racing delivered a strong recovery in the FIA Formula 2 Sprint Race at Monza. Coming from a challenging qualifying session at the Italian temple of speed, both Gabriele Minì and Sebastian Montoya managed to make their way into the top-10.
Both drivers gained positions steadily and maximized their racecraft in the stop-and-start situations typical of Monza, making good use of their DRS.
Minì delivered a points finish in P7, starting from the seventh row of the grid and showing the pace to make more gains. Montoya made a brilliant comeback, too, starting from the very back of the 22-car field and making up 12 spots to clinch P10 at the end.
The longer Feature Race will offer more opportunities tomorrow morning.
#9 SEBASTIAN MONTOYA
"Not bad to get another top-10. It was an interesting race with a little bit of up and down, and I really enjoyed it. It was nice to drive the car. I think there are still areas where we can move forward. Yesterday in Qualy, we made a good step throughout the session, and we translated it into today. We will keep working to understand where we were strong, where we were missing, where to improve, and maximize everything for tomorrow."
#10 GABRIELE MINÌ
"I think it was quite a messy race, but we had a good pace, especially compared to the cars we had around. I managed to get good overtakes done with some racecraft and gain quite a lot of spots. At some point, we didn't have the DRS out front, and it was really hard to catch up. We still need to gain a bit of pace that's missing, but I think it was a good start."
