PREMA Racing wraps up challenging Hungarian weekend

R10 Hungaroring - FIA Formula 2 Race 2 Report

PREMA Racing wrapped up a challenging weekend at Hungaroring with the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The team started from outside the top 10 with both drivers, which made it difficult on a notably twisty track. Sebastian Montoya took off from P18 and quickly started to recover, although he soon started to find some challenges in managing tyres. Following the pit stop, he eventually fought back to P15 in an up-and-down run.

Gabriele Minì also faced a tough time after the pit stop, despite having a strong start and making his way back to the top 10. While trying to get his tyres in the window, the Italian was hit by another competitor, which caused damage to his car and the loss of position. He wound up in P17.

#9 SEBASTIAN MONTOYA

"Not the easiest race. There are a lot of things to focus on. With different tyre compounds, it was difficult to manage and not much time to bring them in, so it was easy to damage them, which is what happened with the front left. That was the main limiting factor on the options. After that, we could have extended the stint a bit as I had some more pace. I had a good lap, and the pit stop was really strong. I just struggled a lot to bring in the primes. It's something to check because towards the end of the race, we were probably the quickest on track on our strategy. We will check what we need to do to maximize the pace throughout the whole stint, and onto the next one."

#10 GABRIELE MINÌ

"Just finished the Feature Race. At the beginning it was quite good, and we overtook three cars and went forward. We went for an early stop but we struggled massively on the out lap as I couldn’t manage to put any temperature into the tyres. I also got crashed into and had to finish the race with a lot of damage. Very disappointing of course, but once again, it is what it is. We will take a bit of a break now and go again in Monza."
