PREMA Racing posted another top-5 finish at the end of a wet and tricky Feature Race at Silverstone, as the FIA Formula 2 Championship rounded out the British GP weekend.
Starting from P5, Sebastian Montoya maximized his position in challenging wet conditions as he fought among the top 10 in the early stages. By keeping himself on a clean run, the Colombian American drove smartly and eventually climbed back to his starting position, taking advantage of every race situation.
Gabriele Minì was forced to retire. Starting from P16, he made some gains in the early stages. As he was still far from the points zone, the team used a bit of a gamble at the pit-stop, giving him slick tyres as the weather was seemingly improving. Unfortunately, it was still too early. Difficult control led to contact and to a spin that resulted in a DNF.
#9 SEBASTIAN MONTOYA
"I could tell you that the British weather was coming before we could leave. It poured a lot, and it was a good learning experience. I was actually looking forward to the rain, I enjoyed it as the car is really nice to drive in the wet. It’s a bit disappointing that we were only missing a little bit to be able to make a bigger difference. I’m happy. Good points and a good weekend overall. The car was mega all weekend. We just need to keep working and improving, and look forward to the next few races."
#10 GABRIELE MINÌ
"I had a good start, and the initial jump was good, but I lost a little bit of ground in T1-2. I couldn’t see anything, I just tried to find a safe braking point. The pace was really strong in the beginning, lapping like the fastest ahead, and gaining three or four positions. Then I got stuck a bit in the train. We tried to pit for slicks, but it really was too early. I was getting overtaken, I tried to brake but I was basically on ice, and it was pretty much it."
