Coming to European soil for the first time in the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship, PREMA Racing will compete in its first home round of the year this weekend at Imola. The Italian venue, which welcomed legendary drivers and events throughout its history, dating back to 1953, is always an anticipated destination for teams and drivers alike. Featuring a technical layout that rewards bold moves, Imola will be key in shaping up the rest of the season as it sets up a powerful tripleheader that will also include Monte Carlo and Barcelona.
Standing 10th in the driver Championship, Gabriele Minì scored points in all races held so far, although he is aiming for more and returning to the pace level he had as the series hit the ground running in Australia. On the other hand, Sebastian Montoya faced tough luck with two DNFs, but he showed promising potential at every chance. Both drivers raced extensively in Imola and had good results in the past there.
With the ever-present tyre management needs, and a place where track position is extremely important, once again, it will be key to get the best out of the car and tyres as soon as possible. The tyre choice for the event will be on the soft side, with series supplier Pirelli bringing three sets of P-Zero Red Soft as the Prime choice, and two sets of Purple SuperSofts as the option.
RENÉ ROSIN - Team Principal
"Everybody on the team is looking forward to competing in FIA Formula 2 at Imola this weekend. The track itself is great, and we are happy to be back home to start the European stint and a challenging tripleheader. As always, there won't be much room for oversight both in qualifying and in the races, but we think our drivers are well suited for this track and very motivated."
