PREMA Racing will be opening the European portion of the FIA Formula 3 Championship season this weekend at Imola, running with its three-car operation close to home at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
The team is coming from a challenging run in the opening couple of events between Australia and Bahrain, and has set goals on making progress on a track where drivers and teams can make a difference, and where races are normally quite eventful.
Ugo Ugochukwu and Noel Leon were both able to score points in the opening round at Melbourne, but they could not repeat in round 2. While the American got his first Formula 4 win at Imola, the Mexican already stood on the circuit's podium in FIA Formula 3 last year. Brando Badoer, on the other hand, is looking to secure his maiden points on a circuit he knows quite well.
Imola is set to provide competitors with solid weather conditions, with clear skies and warm temperatures. Tyre management is expected to be a factor with a softer compound choice. The teams will use the Pirelli P-Zero Yellow Soft tyres for qualifying and the races.
RENÉ ROSIN - Team Principal
"We are working as hard as we can to make progress and get back to the positions we have been aiming for. This is a very competitive championship and we are aware that every single improvement or optimization have great importance in terms of impact on the end result. Running at home, on a track that our drivers know quite well, will definitely be a good opportunity and we look forward to it."
