PREMA continues Formula 4 legacy with 2025 Misano opener

R01 Misano - Italian F4 Race Preview

The European F4 season is about to go underway for 2025, as the Italian Formula 4 Championship takes off from Misano, and PREMA Racing returns to the series as the reigning champion with six drivers, all aiming to follow in the footsteps of many stars of the past.

17-year-old drivers Kean Nakamura-Berta and Tomass Stolcermanis will be back for their second full season with a positive rookie record. The Japanese-Slovakian was an overall race winner last year and took the Rookie honors in the spin-off Euro 4 Championship, while the Latvian amassed a number of podium finishes, coming close to overall victory multiple times.

Two of the team's rookies for the season are making the step up from the PREMA Racing karting team. Hailing from Ukraine, 16-year-old Williams Driver Academy Oleksandr Bondarev made a promising early debut with the team last year, while 15-year-old Colombian Salim Hanna made his first starts in the 2025 F4 Middle East championship, securing his maiden podium.

Another rookie for 2025, 17-year-old Chinese racer Zhenrui Chi, joined PREMA in the Middle East, leaving a strong impression and becoming a steady points scorer. He is also set for his first full season.

Last but not least, British-American Sebastian Wheldon made a massive breakthrough with the team with a debut win in the Formula Trophy UAE. The 16-year-old, who is part of Andretti Global’s driver development program, also experienced a solid Middle Eastern season.

Lining up at the technical track of the Rimini Riviera, the series will be off to an ultra-competitive start. With more than 40 drivers on the entry list, the field will be split into groups, with three heat races and one final. With all teams having had thorough testing experiences there, the action is expected to be ultra-tight and every small detail could make a difference.
